anyone know whats the diference between FMA and FMA brotherhood? i know its filling in gaps of FMA but still whats the point

Orginally, they makers of fma made it an anime and aired it on t.v. But after seeing the end result of the anime they realized that it didn't follow the manga to closely, so they created Fma brotherhood. This will follow the manga more close.
